How to Get Rid of Spots on Your Face

Even though we run a skin clinic here in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, it is not uncommon for any of the staff to wake up on any given morning and find that out of nowhere a blemish or spot or spots has appeared on their face. Those who do not have the experience of working in a skin clinic or similar, will be checking out Google to see if they can find the answer as to “why have spots appeared on my face and how to get rid of spots on your face”?  There is never a good time for spots to surface on your face but it is always the case that you will want the spots or acne to go as quickly as they arrived.  There are a number of ways in to help remove the spots or zits from your face but more importantly, there are many important proven ways in which you can stop the spots from appearing on your face in the first place.

  1. Do Use Ice On Your Spots

If you’ve got a swollen pimple or spot that is causing you discomfort then do place an ice cube on it. Put the ice cube in a thin cloth and place on the spot for 3 minutes. Repeat throughout the day to reduce swelling and pain.

  1. Do Apply Crushed Aspirin

Aspirin contains Salicylic Acid which helps reduce acne and spots. Applying a paste of aspirin will help remove excess oil and dead skin and so dries out pores, reduces swelling and the redness. To make the paste, just add a little water in a glass, making sure the paste is thick enough to spread.

  1. Do Not Pick

Picking your spots on your face will cause more harm than good. Picking can produce a “trauma” on your facial skin, which in turn leads to inflammation, infection, and potentially a scar.  So not only will the spot potentially leave a scar but will take so much longer to disappear anyway.

  1. Do Use Toner if Really Needed

Unless you have very oily skin then avoid the spot totally when applying any toner. With any toner you will be disrupting the skin barrier and causing inflammation, so look closely when you are purchasing any natural toner.

  1. Do Use Certain Makeup if You Wish

We understand that makeup is part of many peoples’ everyday life and to avoid it due to a breakout of spots or acne can be impossible. It is very tempting to hide the spots with makeup but you also feel you are suffocating it but not allowing it to breathe. However, certain formulas can actually address pimples while providing coverage. “Salicylic acid is a common acne ingredient that is useful in preventing or treating pimples and can be found in several makeup brands.”

It also decreases the amount of sebum you produce, which in turn decreases clogged pores. If you are new to Retinol then dilute it initially with moisturiser to lessen any side-effects.
